Englishman’s future at the German club is still uncertain – because of that, the board is already searching for a potential replacement

Bayern Munich are beginning to map out a future beyond Harry Kane, and Victor Osimhen has emerged as a prime candidate to inherit the No.9 role at the Allianz Arena. With Kane now 32 and ongoing uncertainty surrounding his long-term plans, Vincent Kompany is said to be pushing for a move that would secure one of Europe’s most feared strikers for the next era of Bayern dominance.

Reports from FootMercato suggest the Bundesliga champions are seriously exploring the possibility of landing the Nigerian forward, who is currently thriving at Galatasaray. Kompany has reportedly admired Osimhen since his breakthrough days at Charleroi, keeping close tabs on his rise through Lille and beyond.

Although Kane continues to deliver at an extraordinary rate — scoring 45 goals in 37 matches in all competitions this season — Bayern’s hierarchy are thinking proactively. With his contract running until 2027, there is no immediate urgency, but the club does not want to be caught unprepared should circumstances change.

In Osimhen, they believe they have identified a forward capable of leading the attack for the next several years.

Any pursuit, however, promises to be complicated. Galatasaray converted Osimhen’s loan into a permanent €75 million transfer last summer and secured him on a deal through June 2029. The Istanbul outfit see him as the cornerstone of their project and have little intention of selling. Still, Bayern’s stature and the appeal of the Bundesliga could test that resolve — even if it would require a significant financial outlay to reopen negotiations.

In an era where elite, traditional centre-forwards are increasingly scarce, Osimhen stands out as a consistent and ruthless finisher. His sustained output over the past seven seasons has elevated him into a rare category of strikers who virtually guarantee goals. Bayern’s "serious" contemplation of such a move underlines their determination to stay ahead of the curve, both in Germany and on the European stage.

Whether Galatasaray can resist if Bayern formalise their interest remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: as the next transfer window approaches, Osimhen is poised to be one of its central figures.
