New signing Peter Thiong'o bagged a brace as Posta Rangers thrashed Sofapaka 3-1 in an FKF Premier League March staged at Kasarani Annex on Sunday afternoon.

Heading into the game, Posta were out to make it two wins in a row after the comfortable 3-0 win over Kenya Police FC a fortnight ago while Sofapaka were seeking to bounce back from the 1-0 loss to Bandari.

Sofapaka started the game strongly and nearly went ahead in the fourth minute but Humphrey Mieno was denied by last ditch defending from the mail-men. Moussa Omar's 11th minute header narrowly went over the bar.

Posta slowly grew into the game as the chances slowly diminished. Both teams won a number of corner kicks that amounted to nothing.

Felix Oluoch missed a great chance to put Posta ahead four minutes before the break, he failed to connect to a sumptuous Curtis Wekesa cross from the right. He missed another chance two minutes later heading a Caleb Olilo cross over the bar.

The first half ended barren.

Five minutes into the second half, Posta went ahead through Jackson Macharia, the midfielder was set up by Olilo and he calmly slotted past Jacob Osano.

Seven minutes later Fiston Abdoul Razak shot directly and Samuel Njau from a prime position and a minute later substitute, Patrick Otieno missed the easiest of chances as his connection to an Olilo cross went wide.

Substitute Peter Thiong'o grabbed a quick brace in the 70th and 74th minutes to put Posta 3-0 up. Oliver Maloba then found the back of the net in the 78th minute to make it 3-1.

Sofapaka missed a couple of chances late on as Posta held on to temporarily top in the table with seven points.
