The midfielder missed last weekend's defeat to Talanta due to an injury
Posta Rangers central midfielder Vincent Wasambo is praying for a clean bill of health ahead of their round eight of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League tie against Bandari.
Wasambo missed last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to FC Talanta at the Ruaraka Grounds due to foot irritation, but he is hopeful of recovering on time and contesting for playing time against the visiting dockers.
Rangers tasted defeat for the first time in the season after falling to Talanta last Saturday, losing the four-point advantage they were enjoying at the top.
Alfred Tanui, Alex Juma, and an own goal by Ken Owino won the game for Talanta, with Dinken Mwema getting the consolation for Rangers.
Prior to the game, Rangers had registered a draw and five straight wins and had conceded a goal in six rounds, triggering a debate on whether they were ripe for a title talk and challenge.
Despite the loss, the mailmen remain at the apex with 16 points, one ahead of record Kenyan champion Gor Mahia, who beat Tusker 1-0.
Rangers coach John Kamau seemingly missed the services of Wasambo in the Talanta defeat as he hooked off his replacement Meshack Muyonga early in the first half with Jackson Macharia coming on.
Wasambo, who has since resumed training, is hoping that the medics will clear him to be in the team that will face Bandari, who are oozing confidence after beating the AFC Leopards 1-0 last Sunday.
“I wasn’t fit enough to play last weekend. I started feeling some discomfort in my foot after last week's friendly game against Kajiado FC. However, I am hopeful of being ready for the game against Bandari,” said the former Kariobangi Sharks midfielder.
The loss to Talanta might have put pressure on the backs of the Rangers, but Wasambo is certain of redemption.
“We will rise again,” remarked the former KCB midfielder.
