PSG run after Duran

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 11.01.25. | 17:31

The Parisians desperately need a ruthless goalscorer, and they might have found one in Birmingham

Life after Kylian Mbappe has continued in Paris, but it hasn't been too nice, as Paris Saint-Germain failed to find a proper replacement - was that even possible? - or adapt to playing without the Frenchman. The reorganization of PSG's attack and reliance on Goncalo Ramos, Lee Kang-in, and Randal Kolo Muani were not fruitful.

Moreover, the latter is on the verge of leaving the French capital, while the Saints are actively looking for a new attacking power. Rumours regarding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have been spreading for days, but Radio Monte Carlo brought another alternative - Jhon Duran!

The Colombian has performed exceptionally well at Aston Villa, lately becoming the regular starter under Unai Emery instead of the untouchable Ollie Watkins. Truth be told, he earned it by regularly netting from the bench.

Duran "exploded" this season, scoring 12 goals in 26 appearances, and thus completely paid off the €16.5 million Villa splashed out for him when he arrived from the US Chicago Fire. Now, the Villans demand over five times more, or precisely €85 million!

Another option for the potential transfer could be a "swap," as Emery has spoken highly of PSG's Marco Asensio, so the Spaniard's eventual arrival in Birmingham could reduce Duran's price. Still, Kvaratskhelia is still in the mix and despite their vast fortune, the Parisians' owner could hardly be able to afford both players. Hence, we'll have to wait and see.
