Their clashes are much more than genuine derbies, so the heat was on once more...

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

And it's been like that for ages. And it's precisely what Chelsea's attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic did during the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers tie between USA and Mexico.

The Yankees were three points behind their archrivals before the game, and the words of Mexico's experienced captain, the keeper Guillermo Ochoa, infuriated Pulisic and his teammates.

"Меxico is the mirror in which the United States wants to see itself."

So when the moment came, the US team knew how to punish Ochoa for those thoughts.

A couple of minutes after he went in from the bench in the second half, Chelsea midfielder struck a header following Timothy Weah's cross to open the scoreline. Pulisic then went to the stands to celebrate a goal, wearing a shirt underneath with a special 'dedication', saying: "The Man in the Mirror".

Obviously, it was an act of sweet revenge to Ochoa himself, who would concede another one later on for the final 2-0 on the scoreboard. The two teams are now levelled at the top with 14 points, respectively.
