Rainbow had a dream start of life in the second-tier last weekend after edging Darajani Gogo 1-0

Former national U17 attacking midfielder Tevin Omutere is hopeful of gracing top-flight football for the second time after a two-year absence.

Omutere last tasted top flight football between December 2018 and March 2021 with the 2009 league champions Sofapaka where he played for both the junior and senior teams.

To achieve his ambition, the 23-year old intends to help his current club Rainbow FC secure promotion at the end of the current season.

Rainbow have been on an upward trajectory in the last two seasons as the club was promoted to the third tier in the 2021-2022 before securing passage to the second-tier last season.

Omutere hopes that the outfit will be third time lucky and run away with one of the two available promotion slots at the end of the campaign.

Rainbow had a dream start of life in the second-tier last weekend after edging Darajani Gogo 1-0 at the Kasarani Annex grounds where Tyron Kariuki scored the all-important goal.

"I hope to see the team reach the top level at the end of the season. We started well and it can only get better. Most of us in the team want to play at the highest competition as well," Omutere said.

Other players at Rainbow who have featured in the FKFPL include defensive midfielder Steiner Musasia and Job Nyawir who had stints with Posta Rangers and Gor Mahia respectively.

Omutere, also disclosed his goal of turning professional just like the duo of Ryan Ogam and Faiz Ouma who joined the Dubai-based Elite Falcons FC from Rainbow.

"I want to follow in their footsteps. They showed us it possible for a player who is attached to a lower club to move abroad," added the former Kangemi All Stars player.
