Rashford and Fermin secured an easy win for Barca, bringing them just days away from the title

The goals from the Englishman and the Spaniard were more than enough for Barcelona’s comfortable 2-0 win over Getafe

Barcelona’s march towards the title showed no signs of slowing down. Even without Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, they extended their winning run and moved ever closer to the league crown, underlining just how strong they have been this season.

Their victory at the Coliseum — a ground where they had failed to win in their previous five visits — not only reinforced their dominance but also opened the door to possible title celebrations in the near future.

With an 11-point cushion over Real Madrid and 15 points still available, Barca could mathematically secure the championship as early as next weekend, depending on results elsewhere, or even in a potential Clasico showdown on May 10th. Goals from Fermin and Marcus Rashford reflected their control over a typically stubborn Getafe side.

There was plenty of curiosity about how Barcelona would cope without two of their most influential attacking players. Visiting the Coliseum is always a difficult task, and Getafe — well-drilled and physically intense — are known for making life uncomfortable for every opponent.

With Fermin and Roony deployed wide and Pedri alongside Gavi in midfield, Barcelona were forced to adapt. Getafe, as usual, were compact and disciplined, making space hard to find and relying on their familiar aggressive structure under Bordalas.

As expected, chances were at a premium. Barcelona had more of the ball but struggled to break through, often resorting to direct passes. Lewandowski, returning to the starting XI, tested his luck from distance, while Roony came closest in open play with a low effort that narrowly missed.

The breakthrough finally arrived just before halftime: Cubarsi won possession, Pedri threaded a clever pass through, and Fermin timed his run perfectly before finishing past David Soria. It was a crucial moment that rewarded Barca’s patience and put them firmly in control.

Getafe tried to respond after the break, making attacking changes in search of an equaliser, but Barcelona quickly took charge again. The visitors created their best spell of the match, with Dani Olmo and Kounde both going close to doubling the lead. The game gradually opened up, but Getafe’s attacking threat remained limited, with Barcelona’s defence comfortably handling everything thrown at them.

As the match wore on, Barcelona’s superiority in midfield became even clearer. Pedri dictated the rhythm, while Getafe found it almost impossible to create anything meaningful. Any hope of a comeback faded, and Barcelona sealed the result late on with a devastating counterattack.

Lewandowski launched a long ball forward, and Rashford sprinted clear before finishing calmly past Soria to make it 2-0. Casado nearly added a third in stoppage time, but the result was already beyond doubt.

In the end, it was another composed and mature performance from Barcelona — one that strengthened their grip on the title and showed their depth even without key players.
