Marcelo was about to come in from the bench for Fluminense, but a touchline heated discussion with the boss resulted in a strange outcome. Eventually, he decided to terminate the contract!?

Marcelo appeared almost 400 times for Real Madrid during his 15-year-long spell at Santiago Bernabeu, becoming an icon of the world's most decorated football club. He also represented Brazil for 12 years, establishing himself as one of the best left-backs ever.

The 36-year-old player is still not ready to hang his boots and is plying trade at his boyhood club, Fluminense.

However, despite being such a star, he's not a regular at Flu, and after the incident that took place last night, his stocks have gone downhill.

In a mid-table derby of the Brasileiro Serie A against Gremio (2-2), Fluminense manager Mano Menezes was getting ready to sub on Marcelo, giving him a tactical talk. However, the experienced player seemed like he was having none of that, which triggered Menezes' anger. He got furious, pushing Marcelo back on the bench and he didn't sub him on anymore.

On Saturday night, it was officially announced that Marcelo and Fluminense have terminated his contract by a mutual agreement.
