On the wings of their brilliant duo, Manchester City secured an important 4–1 victory over the German side
Pep Guardiola’s side entered the match as clear favorites against Borussia Dortmund, though many expected Niko Kovac’s team to offer a bit more resistance.
Manchester City looked dominant until midway through the second half, when Dortmund managed to pull one back and inject a bit of tension into the Etihad. However, in the end, it was Cherki who sealed the deal with a late goal to make it 4–1.

The game’s first real action came in the 10th minute when Phil Foden struck powerfully from 20 meters, but his effort went straight at Gregor Kobel, who handled it comfortably. Six minutes later, Foden tried again, this time from a free-kick, but the shot lacked power and direction, landing safely in the Dortmund keeper’s hands.
City’s persistence paid off in the 22nd minute. Foden, constantly finding space between the lines, received the ball and fired a low drive from around 20 meters into the bottom right corner — beyond Kobel’s reach — giving Pep Guardiola’s side a well-deserved 1–0 lead. The goal is HERE!

Just six minutes later, City nearly doubled their advantage. Erling Haaland made a powerful run before unselfishly squaring the ball to Nico O’Reilly, who looked certain to score, but Kobel produced a brilliant reflex save to keep Dortmund in the game.
The reprieve didn’t last long. In the 29th minute, Jeremy Doku dazzled down the flank, cutting inside and delivering a sharp pass into the box, where Haaland was perfectly positioned to smash the ball home and make it 2–0 for the hosts. The goal is HERE!

City continued to dominate. In the 33rd minute, Reijnders unleashed a fierce shot inside the penalty area, only for Kobel to once again deny City with another excellent save.
Dortmund’s first real attempt on goal didn’t arrive until the 39th minute, when Karim Adeyemi found some space and fired toward goal, but Gianluigi Donnarumma was alert and made the stop with ease.
Right before the break, Haaland tested Borussia's goalkeeper again with a solid effort, but the Swiss keeper stood firm, preventing further damage.

The second half began with Manchester City maintaining full control of the match. In the 46th minute, Savinho had an early chance when he struck powerfully toward goal, but the Borussia goalkeeper managed to keep it out.
In the 55th minute, Erling Haaland picked up the ball on the left side and tried his luck, though his shot went straight at the keeper. Just two minutes later, in the 57th, Phil Foden made it 3–0 for City — almost a carbon copy of his first goal. Once again, Dortmund’s defense gave him too much space, and the Englishman punished them with another precise finish into the corner. The goal is HERE!

City continued pressing, and in the 62nd minute, Foden returned the favor with an assist to Savinho, whose volley flew narrowly over the crossbar. Dortmund then began to find some rhythm of their own — in the 66th minute, Serhou Guirassy found himself one-on-one with Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the Italian keeper produced a brilliant save.
Just three minutes later, Karim Adeyemi came close as well, firing wide from the edge of the box after a cross from the right. Dortmund’s persistence finally paid off in the 72nd minute when Anton met Ryerson’s cross with perfect timing, beating Donnarumma from close range to make it 3–1. The goal is HERE!
