Encouragingly for head coach Jeffers Odongo, Soy United boast an impressive home record, remaining unbeaten at the Eldoret Showground this season.
After nine thrilling National Super League encounters that kicked off with a five-match Jamhuri Day treat and stretched into Saturday’s action, attention now shifts to Sunday, 14 December, where a solitary but high-stakes fixture takes centre stage.
Soy United will lock horns with Mully Children Family (MCF) at the Eldoret Showground in a clash that promises significant implications at the lower end of the table.
Soy United head into the encounter seeking an immediate response following a two-match winless run, having settled for a draw against Vihiga United before succumbing to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Fortune Sacco in Kirinyaga last weekend.
The Mozzart Bet-backed side will be eager to halt the slide and secure their fourth win of the campaign since returning to the second tier.
Currently 16th on 12 points, just one place above the relegation zone and five points adrift of the foot of the standings, the Soy-based outfit cannot afford further setbacks.
Victory on Sunday would provide much-needed breathing space and potentially propel them towards mid-table safety.
Encouragingly for head coach Jeffers Odongo, Soy United boast an impressive home record, remaining unbeaten at the Eldoret Showground this season.
All three of their wins have come on home soil, complemented by a draw against Vihiga United.
That resilience at home will be central to their quest to bounce back to winning ways.
However, standing in their path is a rejuvenated MCF side enjoying a two-match unbeaten run.
The Ndalani-based outfit will be targeting a third successive positive result, with victory the clear objective as they attempt to distance themselves from relegation danger.
MCF currently sit 15th, just two places clear of the relegation markers and six points off the bottom, making Sunday’s encounter equally critical.
Interim player-coach Ezekiel Okere will, however, be concerned by his side’s away struggles.
MCF have endured a difficult run on the road, managing four defeats, three draws, and just one away victory—an emphatic 3-0 win over bottom-placed Mwatate United.
Sunday’s clash will mark the third meeting between the two sides, rekindling a rivalry last contested four years ago during Soy United’s debut NSL season.
On that occasion, MCF claimed a 1-0 home win before Soy United responded with a 2-1 victory in the return leg, setting a precedent for closely fought contests.
With both teams desperate to pull clear of the relegation mix, Sunday’s showdown at the Eldoret Showground shapes up as a classic relegation six-pointer encounter.
