Scans showed the Frenchman's condition isn't as bad as Allegri first feared
A spot of good luck for Paul Pogba? It sounds highly unlikely, but it happened. The injury he sustained in the match against Empoli over the weekend has been deemed not too serious.
While there were initial concerns about a potential lengthy layoff, the latest reports suggest that Pogba will not be sidelined for an extended period - and the same was said for defender Federico Gatti.
"Paul Pogba and Federico Gatti underwent instrumental tests today at J|Medical following the injuries reported yesterday during the match against Empoli. Paul Pogba's diagnostic tests excluded muscle injuries and highlighted a slight overload of the semimembranosus muscle of the right thigh, while Federico Gatti reported a sprain of his left ankle. The two players have already started the rehabilitation process aimed at resuming competitive activity."
Coach Massimiliano Allegri initially confirmed that Pogba had experienced a setback, but thankfully, subsequent tests revealed that the midfielder had only suffered a minor muscle overload in his thigh, which is less serious than initially feared.
The Frenchman's time at Juve has been marred by injuries and limited appearances due to a serious knee problem that required surgery. Since re-joining the Turin club in 2022 as a free agent from Manchester United, he has featured in only 12 matches for the club. His ongoing fitness issues have hindered his ability to contribute consistently to the team.
