And all this in a royal costume, with a sword in his hand and a crown on his head

The Argentine media states Boca Junior called him. The Colombians claim that America de Cali also asked for him. However, Arturo Vidal chose the third path, the one that leads home. After more than a decade and a half wandering around Europe and South America, the Chilean midfielder decided to return to where his football story started - to Colo Colo.

If by chance he regretted even for a moment that he did not accept one of the mentioned two offers - or a third one, because there were hardly any - last night, they were all permanently erased from his memory. Because he experienced what he wouldn't have even in Argentina and Colombia.

About ten days after he picked up the jersey of the club where he grew up, King Arturo, as they call him in his homeland, was given a spectacular welcome. A royal welcome. Tens of thousands of fans gathered at the Monumental to see the official presentation of their pet and give him a warm embrace.

Vidal arrived at the stadium by helicopter! But that was not the end of the spectacle that the leaders of the Chilean club put on for the 36-year-old.

Shortly after getting out of the helicopter, Arturo, in royal robes, with a sword in his hand and a crown on his head, climbed on a horse and on it made a walk around the stadium to greet the fans present, and then, with a lump in his throat, spoke with tears in his eyes.

"It was very emotional to come down and see a stadium like this. Spectacular. Now I feel even more relaxed on the field. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for so much love. I hope I will be able to return the favor in every game I play. I hope the stadium will be full throughout the year like today and that we can lift the second Copa Libertadores trophy, why not?" Vidal said.

And no trophy can make up for all of this. Not three Bundesliga trophies with Bayern, or six Scudetto medals with Juventus and Inter, or La Liga with Barcelona, or any of the 25 trophies he won during his rich career. It doesn't get any better than this...
