Kenyan international Richard Odada has sealed a loan move from Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union to Danish second-tier side AaB Fodbold until the end of the season with an option to buy in his loan deal.
The 22-year-old moved to the MLS last year in August but has found playtime hard to come by in the senior team and had to play for the Philadelphia Union II in the MLS Next Pro.
AaB leads the standings after four rounds of matches with 10 points accumulated from three wins and one draw.
Speaking to the club after his unveiling on Tuesday, Odada expressed his delight at joining AaB, adding that he is raring to go at the new station.
"I am happy to be in a historic club like AaB, and I will do my best to help the team have a good season. I've already seen that AaB have a beautiful stadium and some good training facilities, so I'm looking forward to getting started and working hard. I am a defensive player who has often been placed in the central midfield, as a defensive midfielder, and my strength lies in capturing the ball and quickly distributing it forward to create turnovers. I also hope to be able to contribute to AaB," he said as quoted on the club's website.
AaB's sporting director Ole Jan Kappmeier revealed that they have been interested in the Kenyan for a while, heaping praises on his defensive abilities as well as his technical ability on the ball.
"We have had an interest in Richard Odada for a long time, and we are happy that an agreement has now been reached with the Philadelphia Union. Richard is a strong player who has his primary strengths in the defensive, where he is good at protecting the defence, but at the same time he has a fine technical level on the ball, and we see him as an excellent addition to our squad," Ole Jan Kappmeier said.
