Some deals are better than others - and this one is a no-brainer
In modern sport, there is precious little room for being nice or showing a bit of human touch. But sometimes football clubs extend a helping hand and decide to do something nice for their fans. Such is the case with FK Metalac, the Serbian club where Harambee Star Richard Odada is plying his trade on loan.
Metalac caused a bit of a stir with an Instagram post ahead of their Wednesday's Serbian Cup tie at FK Novi Pazar. They offered their fans a chance to travel to the game for free, get a match ticket for free - and enjoy a healthy portion of ćevapi, the local speciality. More on that later.
This Kup Srbije quarter-final match promises to offer a tight game between two top-tier sides. However, with these two clubs occupying two bottom places in the Serbian Superliga, their national cup exploits may take a back seat for a while. Odada played all 90 minutes last weekend as his Metalac side celebrated a long-overdue league win against Spartak Subotica.
Wednesday, 21.30: (2.65) Burnley (3.05) Everton (3.05)
Aside from their club's league woes, their fans are set for a treat on Wednesday. They will board buses for the relaxing 147-kilometre ride, watch their beloved team and sink their head in steaming ćevapi. Oh right, let's tell you more about those.
According to various reports from English-speaking tourists who ventured into Serbia, it's one of the best things you can eat. Juicy sticks formed out of minced beef meat and a little bit of mutton tallow joined with just a little bit of flour and spices and grilled on a hellishly hot iron grill. It's all then stuffed into a round, puffy loaf of bread. To complete the ensemble, cold fermented sheep milk is eaten alongside ćevapi. It's enough to make you forget that there is a football match that day. There are a few variations, of course, but this is the sort of meal you'd get in Raška Oblast, the area of Serbia where the city of Novi Pazar is located.
Ćevapi - this is traditional for both Serbia and Bosnia. Basically, they are a mix of minced veal and mutton, though in some regions people also add pork. We eat them with onion and kajmak - that's a creamy dairy product that I've only seen here in the Balkan. So delicious! pic.twitter.com/TALfRuBNzc

Let's hope that Odada and his teammates won't be reaching for ćevapi to forget about their result at Novi Pazar.
