Next for Singida Fountain Gate is a home match against Simba.
Elvis Rupia opened his Tanzanian Premier League account on Thursday evening with the all-important goal that helped his club, Singida Fountain Gate, beat Mtibwa Sugar FC away from home.
Making his first league start for the club, Rupia found the back of the net in the 43rd minute, finishing off a move that was initiated by compatriot Duke Abuya. He fired home with his left foot after being set up by Nicholas Gyan, who received a great pass from Abuya.
Both Abuya and Rupia started the game, while Joash Onyango was once again left out of the matchday squad. He has not featured in the squad in the last three match days.
Rupia has now scored two goals in the three matches that he has played for Simba. He scored on his debut against Future FC of Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup a fortnight ago.
Elsewhere Joshua Otieno sat out through illness as his club, Tanzania Prisons, went down 3-1 to giants Simba.
Edwin Balua gave Prisons a 12th-minute lead before Simba responded through Clatous Chama in the 34th minute and John Bocco in the 45th to ensure that Wekundu wa Msimbazi left for the break a goal up. Saidi Ntibazonkiza then ensured that there was no way back for Prisons with an 85th-minute goal to secure the win for Simba, who made the most of Yanga’s Wednesday defeat to Ihefu.
Next for Wekundu was Msimbazi in an away match against Singida Fountain Gate. The match will be played on Sunday, October 8th.
