Tusker are set to face Kakamega Homeboyz this Saturday
Despite recovering and subsequently resuming training, Tusker right back Daniel Sakari has earmarked October as the earliest time he can jostle for playing time.
Sakari had been battling a groin injury in the last two months and as a result, he missed the opening two rounds of the season against Bandari and Kariobangi Sharks.
Further, the defender couldn't be summoned for national team duties against Qatar and South Sudan owing to lack of fitness by the time coach Engin Firat named the provisional squad.
Sakari who resumed training last week says the medics have given him an extra three weeks to work on his fitness as he missed the pre-season training sessions.
"I will not be available for selection until next month. I am working hard to regain full fitness after two months on the sidelines," he said.
Coach Robert Matano deployed Jimmy Mbugua at right back in the first two league matches followed the absence of Sakari whose last assignment with the brewers was the Mozzart Bet Cup final against Kakamega Homeboyz.
Tusker opened the season with a 1-0 win over Bandari at Mbaraki grounds and played Kariobangi Sharks to a 1-1 draw in the subsequent duel.
Sakari, who renewed his contract with the brewers after signing a year-long deal believes that the team will gather momentum and have a successful campaign.
"The team is gelling well after fresh blood was injected during the transfer window," said the former Kakamega Homeboyz right back.
The brewers lost the league title last season to Gor Mahia who won it in the final day of the campaign by the barest of margins.
Tusker are set to face the wounded Kakamega Homeboyz this Saturday at the Bukhungu Stadium.
Homeboyz lost their league opener 1-0 to debutants Murang'a Seal.
