Robert Ojienda was impressed with his boys performance in the 1-0 win over Kibera Black Stars.

Shabana FC head coach Robert Ojienda was buoyed by his team's performance in the 1-0 win over Kibera Black Stars in a league match staged at the Migori Stadium.

A first half-goal from Abou Traore helped Shabana return to winning ways after last weekend's two-all draw against Mully Children's Family (MCF) at the same venue.

It was coach Ojienda's first win as a Shabana boss and the former Migori Youth boss was elated with the win. He was also impressed by his team's defending and focus throughout the game.

"I think we played well today. There was a huge improvement from how we played last week. Our concentration was better today, and we also defended well. I had to keep the players on toes because in our last game we conceded a very late goal and I had ensured that they maintained their concentration until the final whistle and credit to them, they executed our plan well," he told Mozzartsport.

Reflecting on the game, Ojienda said that they did better in defending and maintaining focus throughout the match. He also admitted that the visitors made it difficult for them particularly towards the end of the game.

"It was not an easy game because Kibera Black Stars equally played very well. In fact, towards the end game, they really made it uncomfortable for us and we had to work to ensure that we do not witness a repeat of what happened last week," he added.

Despite picking a win, Ojienda is not getting carried away. He says a big chunk of his players are young and they need to keep learning. He also said they need to improve on their defending and sharpness up front.

"My team is young team. I can say 90% of the players are young boys who are still learning and we have to be patient with them. We have to give them time to learn from the experiment lot and I know that we will soon have a very good team. As a team we also have to improve on our defending, we have to get rid of lapses and we also need to be more composed upfront," he concluded.

Shabana's next match will be against Murang'a Seal away. They will come up against their former coach Vincent Nyaberi who is currently in charge of Seal.
