FKF Premier League side Shabana, once again, missed the million mark in their league clash against Murang'a Seal despite having full stands.

The two sides met in a league match on Sunday, 29 March at the Gusii Stadium in Kisii, where Shabana won 1-0.

As has been their custom, the club took to their social media pages to announce what went into their collection basket.

We collected a gross revenue of Ksh 801,000. It was great seeing the Stadium painted in red and white.

Thank you all for the love and support,” read a post on Facebook.

The amount was Ksh132,100, less than what The Glamour Boys raked in their 1-2 defeat to Kariobangi Sharks on 15 March, and the second time in a row that they failed to reach seven figures.

In their other recent home matches before the two games, Shabana collected Ksh1,186,400 from their match against Tusker on 21 February and Ksh1,131,500 from their meeting with Bandari on 1 February.

The recent reduction in revenue may be a result of the club’s poor performance and administrative decisions in recent times.

Shabana suffered three consecutive defeats in March; a humiliating 5-1 loss to AFC Leopards on 1 March, the 2-1 loss to Sharks, and a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Gor Mahia.

Back to their clash against Seal, Wycliffe Omondi’s 41st-minute strike proved to be the difference in the encounter.

However, replays show that the defender’s strike might not have entirely crossed the line, making it one of the most bizarre officiating decisions this season.

Nevertheless, the win was enough to return Shabana to third on the log with 43 points. Gor Mahia remain on top of the league with 56 points, four more than second-placed AFC Leopards.
