Ngunyi wil be in rehab for 20 weeks

Kariobangi Shark's winger Patrick Ngunyi has started rehabilitation as he seeks to return to playing having undergone surgery earlier in the year, the club has confirmed.

In an injury update provided by the club in January, Sharks revealed that Ngunyi was set to miss action for at least three months after undergoing surgery on a problematic knee injury that has consequently ruled out the midfielder from featuring in league games for the William Muluya coached side.

Ngunyi seems to be on track with his recovery as projected by the club in January and will be in rehab for 20 weeks, which will see him miss the remaining biot of the current campaign.

This was not the first time that Ngunyi was being sidelined for lengthy times due to injury as he sat out for five months last year after going undergoing an arthroscopic surgery on a patellar tendonitis.

Back in January, the youngster damaged his patella tendonitis and was ruled out for what was thought to be around eight to ten weeks. That was not to be as in April, the injury demanded correction and Ngunyi was consequently wheeled into the operation table where he underwent the first surgery.

Sharks had a perfect start to the campaign but they have since fallen down the pecking order to eighth with 34 points, 15 off league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz and a title recovery does not seem a viable idea.
