
Shichenje delighted after opening AFC Leopards account

Shichenje scored his first goal in AFC Leopards colors in the FKF Cup win over Posta Rangers.
AFC Leopards midfielder Collins Shichenje responded brilliantly after his red card by bagging his maiden goal for the club in the 1-0 win over Posta Rangers in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup on Wednesday 2 June.
Shichenje was handed his marching orders in the 1-0 win over Mathare United on Thursday 27 May for a rash tackle on James Kinyanjui. The former Green Commandos midfielder impact was missed in the last league game as Ingwe suffered a 3-1 drubbing at the hands of league debutants Bidco United.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Shichenje could not hide his exhilaration after opening his Ingwe goal account after putting in an extra shift in training.
“I felt really great because it was my first goal for the club and I have been really working hard to score, I think I deserved it,”
“I would like to thank my teammates because together we made it possible, I’m now getting myself in more attacking positions and I will score more goals in the coming games,” said Shichenje.

The midfielder joined Ingwe before the start of the 2019-2020 season from Green Commandos after impressing in their debut National Super League campaign.
Shichenje was confident of getting past Bungoma Superstars in the Round of 16 to book a place in the quarter-finals of the FKF Cup and reiterated his disappointment after his red card.
“I’m positive that we will advance to the quarter-finals, everybody is working hard and whoever is given a chance in the team is proving himself,”
“I was really disappointed to get a red card in the final minutes of the game (against Mathare), I apologised to my teammates. The coach has faith in everybody and we are taking it game by game,” added the midfielder.
