The quintet of: Jentrix Shikangwa, Corazone Aquino, Elizabeth Wambui, Rose Ingosi, and Fasila Adhiambo were all in action as Simba recaptured the country’s league title with an important 5-2 victory over Mashujaa Queens at the KMC Stadium.

Shikangwa, who leads the club in goals-scoring, was once again on top of her form, as she scored a brace in the seven-goal match, taking her tally in the league this season to 16 goals, helping her club claim their fifth league championship.
The former Vihiga Queens player was first on target in the first half to give Simba a 2-1 lead, before adding a late goal that ended the team’s rout on a day when rivals and closest challengers Yanga Princess lost further ground by drawing 1-1 with third-placed JKT Queens.
The resounding win for Simba thus meant that Yanga, who are currently on 44 points, could not match or surpass the former’s total of 56 with only two matches left to the end of the season.
Having joined the club in September 2022, Shikangwa will be celebrating the league crown for the second time, having won it during the 2023-2024 season, alongside compatriots Aquino, Wambui, and Ingosi.
As for midfielder Adhiambo, the title was her first for the club, which she joined in July last year from Ulinzi Starlets.
Overall, Simba’s fifth league championship makes them the outright most successful Premier League side in Tanzania, breaking up the tie with last season’s champions JKT Queens, who are on four.
The league triumph also ensures that Simba will vie to compete in next season’s CAF Women’s Champions League.
