Nairobi City Stars returnee Salim 'Shittu' Abdallah is confident that the team can finish in the top eight after a good start to the second leg of the season.
Simba wa Nairobi had a poor start to the campaign that left them lingering in the relegation zone at the end of the first leg.
However, a seeming resurgence from the first four matches in the second half of the season whereby they have won two matches and drawn two has left the defender speculating that the top eight is within reach.
“I just came back home and fitted in seamlessly since I am not a newcomer. The team is now playing purposeful football and I believe it has the capability to finish in the top 8. We have started the second leg well. From those games, we have two wins and as many draws. And there are two clean sheets. You can sense the change in tide compared to the first leg.” Shitu said.
Since his return, he has featured in all four matches the team has been involved in, helping them keep two clean sheets while conceding only two goals.
Before then, they had conceded 24 goals in 17 matches, an average of more than one goal per match.
City Stars are currently 15th on the log with 20 points from 21 matches.
They are just 10 points behind the eighth-placed team, Kariobangi Sharks, the position that Shittu believes they can achieve at the end of the campaign.
