The former Sofapaka man has four assists and stands among the top three goal contributors for his team this season

Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Ambrose Sifuna is a happy man following his return to action after two months on the sidelines.

The right-footed winger suffered a calf strain on his right leg during one of the club's training sessions halfway through the month of January.

His last appearance for the Kakamega-based outfit was on 13 January, when Homeboyz and Bandari squared out to a scoreless draw at Bukhungu Stadium.

A week ago, before the FIFA international break, Sifuna was involved in matchweek 24 action. He was handed a starting berth and tanked 75 minutes under his feet in Homeboyz's 2-0 triumph over Ulinzi Stars in an encounter staged at Mumias Complex.

The speedy winger marked a positive comeback with an assist to his name after orchestrating Homeboyz' first goal of the match, as Hillary Otieno slotted the ball past Michael Wanyika.

Until his return, the ex-Sofapaka man had three goal contributions in Homeboyz's 2-0 and 2-1 victories in Muhoroni Youth and Tusker encounters.

Equally, he had two goals to his name, having found the back of the net in Tusker and Sofapaka matches, where Homeboyz won 2-1 and 5-0 respectively.

Following his assist during the Ulinzi Stars match, the former Soy United marksman took his tally of assists to four, and stands among the top three goal contributors for the defending Mozzart Bet Cup champions.

Exclusively speaking to Mozzart Sport, the midfielder revealed a sigh of relief and was thrilled to be back to action after a long layoff.

"First, I feel delighted to be back on the grass after a long time on the sidelines. It was frustrating to some extent, but I'm relieved to have put an end to the injury setback," stated Sifuna.

The former under-20 Rising Stars prodigy weighed in on the club's performance and touted the Mozzart Bet-sponsored outfit to wind up the campaign with a top-five finish.

"The club had a shaky start to the season, but we managed to stabilize the performance halfway through the first leg. Before we knew it, we endured yet another rough phase midway through the season.

“I'm glad we finally put an end to the rough patch, and I am optimistic that if we can build on the Ulinzi win, then definitely we are able to sign off the season among the top five performers," he added.
