Sociedad vs Madrid: the clash of two Reals

Reading Time: 2min | Wed. 26.02.25. | 14:22

Los Blancos primary task will be to stop Takefusa Kubo for one particular and very interesting reason...

After the fireworks in the first Copa del Rey semi-final and an eight-goal thriller directed by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, it's hard to expect anything better. Still, if there's a club that can enchant the crowd, it's Real Madrid. Their rivals, Real Sociedad, are also keen on locking horns with Los Blancos, as they want to win their first trophy since 2020.

Carlo Ancelotti will be deprived of three vital players' help, as Kylian Mbappe, Federico Valverde, and Thibaut Courtois did not travel to San Sebastian. The latter two were given time to rest while the Frenchman underwent tooth extraction surgery.

Sociedad have turned their Anoeta Stadium into a genuine fortress, losing only one out of the past 13 matches. Moreover, they are in a five-game winning run at home and will hardly let Madrid "conquer" their house easily.

Imanol Alguacil's team's talisman will be the former Los Blancos player - though he never debuted - Takefusa Kubo. Namely, when the Japanese scores, Sociedad do not lose. The 23-year-old has netted in 22 matches since joining the club and the White and Blues have won 21 of them and drawn once.

Madrid's primary mission should be to stop Kubo from scoring because if he finds the net, they know what to expect.
