Caretaker Committee remains tight lipped on whether they have addressed Sofapaka's concerns

If you’re planning to hit the road to the Kericho Green Stadium with hopes of catching the Football Kenya Federation Premier League duel pitting Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka you are likely to be disappointed as the latter have for the umpteenth time vowed to give the match a wide berth.

The Caretaker Committee ordered for the match that was supposed to be played in January at the Nakuru ASK grounds to be replayed this Saturday in Kericho. The match failed to kick off after Sofapaka raised concerns with the standards of the equipment of the ambulance on standby and are on record saying that they will only take on Ulinzi Should some certain conditions be met.

The 2009 league champions requested for the committee to avail the minutes of the meeting that resolved that the game should be played as well as reimbursement of the costs incurred in preparing and travelling to Nakuru.

The club President Elly Kalekwa confirmed that they had not received any correspondence from the government installed committee and thus will not bother travelling to Kericho.

Unfortunately, we have not received any official communication from the committee regarding the match neither have our demands be addressed. We have been reading in media outlets that the game will be replayed on Saturday yet the same has not been communicated to us. It is shocking that the body mandated to run the competition cannot communicate to us formally yet they want us to honour a match that the match commissioner called off without addressing the concerns we have raised,” he said in a telephone interview.

Sofapaka who had a normal training session on Friday with sources from the club indicating that the technical bench did not conduct the usual pre-match rituals an indication that the team is likely to skip the match.

While Sofapaka appear to maintain the hard line, Ulinzi on the other hand, through the official social media handles have been imploring on their fans to troop to the Kericho facility and back the team get back to winning ways.

Meanwhile the caretaker’s leagues and competitions chief Ali Amour remained coy on whether the game will go on as planned and if they had formally addressed their concerns. Amour declined to give a definite answer on whether the two teams had agreed the match to be replayed.
