Brazilian forward could leave Etihad after only one season
Daniel Levy had long been disliked by Tottenham fans because of the club’s results, but that image changed with the long-awaited capture of a trophy. After years of waiting, a piece of silverware of real significance finally returned to the London club’s cabinet. The Europa League was conquered, and in the final, no less, against Manchester United. In a match that was a season-saver for both teams, Brennan Johnson’s goal near the end of the first half brought celebration to the Tottenham faithful.

Although the team finished just above the relegation zone in the Premier League, resentment toward the club’s owner suddenly dropped. And when captain Heung-Min Son recently announced his departure (moving to Los Angeles), Levy found a way to further warm his relationship with supporters. He promised that he would loosen the purse strings for a proper replacement for the South Korean international — up to 100,000,000 euros if necessary. The latest reports from England say that Tottenham are interested in Manchester City’s Savinho. The reliable Athletic writes that talks between the two clubs are already underway, with a transfer fee of 50,000,000 being discussed, while the Manchester Evening News reports that the Citizens want 60,000,000 for the Brazilian’s transfer.
The fact is Manchester City had not planned to sell Savinho, but Pep Guardiola would likely not stand in the way if a satisfactory offer arrived. The young Brazilian joined the club last June from Girona, where he shone during the Catalans’ historic push for Champions League qualification. He was signed for 25,000,000 paid to sister club Troyes, which City Group had previously bought him to from Atletico Mineiro in the June of 2022 for 6,500,000. However, he never played for the French side, going out on loan to PSV and then Girona, where he caught Guardiola’s attention.
Last season at Manchester City, Savinho made 48 appearances, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists. He is not indispensable to the Citizens, but he is highly useful thanks to his ability to play on either wing. On the right, City already have captain Bernardo Silva, and they have also signed Rayan Cherki from Lyon for 36,500,000 euros, though Cherki will likely operate more centrally. On the left, there is Jeremy Doku, with Phil Foden and Oscar Bobb also available. Jack Grealish is still in the squad, though he is expected to leave before the transfer window closes.
