Kenyan defender Alphonce Omija celebrated his first championship in Oman as Dhofar Club triumphed in the His Majesty Sultan Cup on Saturday.
Dhofar secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Al Nahda FC in an electrifying clash held at the Var us Renaissance Complex.
Omija, a former captain of the national U-17 and U-20 teams who earned a senior national team call-up in March, joined Dhofar at the onset of 2023, alongside former AFC Leopards striker Josephat Lopaga, who later departed the club.
Despite not making the match-day squad through suspension, Omija’s contribution to the team's journey to the title was significant.

The match saw Dhofar endure a tough start to the first half, but they finished on a high note, breaking the deadlock in the fourteenth minute of added time through Ali Salim Al-Nahar's successful penalty kick.
Building on their momentum, Dhofar doubled their lead in the 63rd minute courtesy of a goal from Hussein Al-Shahri, edging them closer to the coveted title.
Despite sustained pressure from Al Nahda in the game's latter stages, Dhofar held firm, clinching the championship with resilience.
With the Sultan Cup secured, Dhofar now focuses on league fixtures, aiming to climb from their current tenth position in the standings.
