Oduor, who was deployed in central midfield, featured for 89 minutes as The Mariners scored deep into stoppage time to climb back into the promotion playoffs bracket.

Visiting Grimsby, off a morale-boosting 4-1 win over Gillingham over the weekend, took the lead through Kieran Green’s header in the 23rd minute, only for Cambridge to equalise four minutes before the break via a Ben Knight volley.

The Mariners were then handed a big let-off after Knight spurned a penalty right at the hour mark, with goalkeeper Jackson Smith producing a big save to keep his side level.

His heroics would bear fruit deep into the fourth minute of added time, as Cameron McJannet connected with a Sullay Kaikai cross to score the winner at the far post.

By that time, Oduor, who was named in Grimsby’s starting eleven for the sixth straight game, was not on the field, as he had been subbed off with a minute of regular time left, with defender Tyrell Warren coming on in his place.

As per statistics provided by Flashscore, the 26-year-old had 37 total touches, completed 77 per cent of his passes, and only won 25 per cent of his ground duels.

The loanee from League One club Bradford City, however, had three ball recoveries and three clearances.

With the win, Grimsby could secure a play-off spot as early as this weekend, when they host Swindon on Saturday, 25 April at 1430 (EAT).

Vyner misses out again

Elsewhere in the Championship, Kenyan defender Zak Vyner missed his fourth straight game for Wrexham as they also clawed back into the promotion playoff spots with a 1-0 win over Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night.

Vyner, as revealed last week by head coach Phil Parkinson, is still nursing a groin injury, which relegated him to the bench against Southampton, before forcing him to sit out games against Birmingham City and Stoke.

Wrexham’s winner came from a Josh Windass strike in the 40th minute, which ensured the Red Dragons jumped a place over Hull City in sixth, after the Tigers were held to a 2-2 draw by relegated Leicester City.

Obiero M.I.A

Also in League Two, Harambee Stars forward Zech Obiero was missing in action as Tranmere Rovers ended their 12-game winless run with a timely 3-1 win on the road over Cheltenham at Whaddon Road.

Obiero, who played 79 minutes of Tranmere's loss to Bristol Rovers last weekend, was not named in the team's lineup, as they went four points above the relegation zone.
