Under the stewardship of Kenyan tactician Francis Baraza, Pamba Jiji once again demonstrated resilience and tactical discipline against one of the league’s most decorated sides in a rescheduled league match.

Oyugi and Tegesi, both of whom were handed starting berths, featured prominently, while compatriot Brian Eshianda was named among the substitutes as the hosts frustrated the visitors.

Simba, popularly known as Wekundu wa Msimbazi, broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute through Anicet Oura, who finished calmly to hand the visitors a deserved lead after sustained pressure.

However, the advantage proved short-lived. Just three minutes later, Pamba responded decisively, restoring parity through James Mwashinga.

The forward capped off a solid individual display with a well-taken equalizer and was later deservedly named Man of the Match.

Pamba Jiji, a side with strong Kenyan influence that includes coach Baraza, coach John Waw, and players Tegesi, Oyugi, and Eshianda, showcased their growing presence to earn a valuable point against their more illustrious opponents.

The result extends Pamba Jiji’s unbeaten run to four matches, lifting them to fifth place on 25 points.

They now sit 12 points behind league leaders Young Africans SC, albeit with a game in hand.

For Simba SC, who boast Harambee Stars attacker Mohammed Bajaber in their ranks, the draw represents a missed opportunity to close the gap on their fierce rivals.

The 22-time champions remain third on 28 points, nine behind the summit, though they still hold four matches in hand.

Elsewhere, Singida Black Stars, guided by Kenyan coach David Ouma and featuring compatriots Lawrence Webo and Harambee Stars striker Elvis Rupia, secured back-to-back victories with a convincing 2-0 win over Tanzania Prisons.

Tanzania Prisons, which had Kenyan duo Michael Mutinda and Maurice Ojwang in their ranks, continue to struggle, slipping further down the table, now placed second from bottom and staring at a potential drop.

Singida’s victory sees them climb to sixth place on 25 points, level with Pamba Jiji, as the race for the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) slot in the Tanzanian Premier League intensifies.
