First-half goals from Karsten Arman Ekorness and Aleksa Matić secured victory for the hosts.
Scriven was withdrawn three minutes from time and replaced by Jaran Eike Øystrem.
The Kenyan has now featured in 12 league matches this season in the Norwegian First Division, starting 10 of them while averaging 84 minutes per game, and scoring twice.
Bryne had the first clear chance after four minutes before Stabæk took control of the game and began creating opportunities.
The hosts suffered an early setback when Sebastian Olderheim was forced off with an injury after a heavy challenge.
Axel Aamodt replaced him and nearly made an immediate impact, but his effort was well saved by the Bryne goalkeeper after 18 minutes.
A minute later, however, Karsten Ekorness broke the deadlock, finishing into the far corner after neat combination play with Dahlby.
Stabæk doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Aleksa Matić reacted quickest to a loose ball following a blocked effort.
Bryne created the first big chance after the restart but failed to convert from close range.
Matić was later forced off through injury before the hosts made three more substitutions after 67 minutes, introducing Veum, Hoven, and Boesen.
Lundemo came close to adding a third late on, seeing one header cleared off the line before another effort struck the crossbar in stoppage time.
Bryne also created a couple of late chances but could not find a way back as Stabæk held on for all three points.
Odhiambo and Osama feature in Sweden
In Sweden, Andreas Odhiambo played the full match while Paul Osama came on in the 71st minute as Enköping suffered a 2-0 defeat away to FC Stockholm Internazionale.
"It was tough that we didn't get anything, even though Stockholm was the slightly better team. We had the chance right up until stoppage time," said Enköping coach Niklas Wenderyd after the match.
The visitors were without regular centre-back Mattias Özgün through illness, with William Björk stepping in.
"Stockholm is a good team, so there is no shame in losing away to them. We tried, but we didn't manage to score," Wenderyd said.
