Western Stima have appointed a new coach a day after sacking Paul Ogai with chairman Laban Jobita explaining why he dropped the match fixing case.
Barely a day after the sacking of Paul Ogai, Western Stima have appointed Abdalla Juma as his replacement on a two-year contract.
Juma joins the club from National Super League Sony Sugar and will be expected on the touchline on Thursday, February 4 when Stima take on fellow league strugglers Mathare United.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Stima chairman Laban Jobita confirmed the appointment of Juma as their new head coach insisting that the club did not fire Ogai.
“We appointed Juma as our new head coach on a two-year contract, we hope that he can steady the ship after a few dismal results.
“I have seen some reports that we fired Ogai, he was volunteering and when the results are poor we could continue having him on the post,” said Jobita.
Stima have gone on a torrid run of five games without a win since claiming a major scalp by beating AFC Leopards 2-0 in December last year.
The Power men also have the league’s worst defensive record having shipped in 19 goals this season and are yet to win a home game this season.
The club has also been rocked by match-fixing scandals after a Ugandan football agent was arrested allegedly trying to bribe Stima players to fix the game against KCB.
The Ugandan was released on Monday after Jobita told the court that he decided not to pursue the case.
“I checked the Kenyan law and found that you are supposed to charge the giver and receiver of the bribe but I had only reported the giver and the receivers were my players.
“So I had no sufficient evidence against my players and decided to drop the case, the Ugandan had asked for the receivers,” added Jobita.
Juma has amassed a wealth of experience in coaching having had stints at Thika United, Chemelil Sugar, Bidco United, KCB, FC Talanta, Ushuru FC, Sony Sugar FC.
