Stroke of fate: Pedri could've been Madridista

Missing on signing arguably the greatest Barcelona prospect has to be one of the biggest mistakes Real Madrid's scouts made in recent years

Sixteen players have worn both the Barcelona and Real Madrid jerseys throughout the existence of these two giants - from the "pioneer" Luis Milla in 1990 to the latest case of Javier Saviola, which occurred in 2007.

At the same time, Luis Figo, Samuel Eto'o, and Ronaldo Nazario remain, to this day, arguably the most outstanding examples of this odd situation.

However, if one ever wondered which players could have ended up at Santiago Bernabeu instead of Camp Nou or vice versa, the list would be quite long. The most recent name on it - Pedri.

Namely, speaking to Radiostadio Noche, the man who discovered the midfielder at Las Palmas, Pepe Mel, revealed that his former player could have become a Madridista, but Los Blancos' scouts made a huge mistake and missed on him.

"I spoke to Butragueno and he told me that the club had already watched Pedro and decided that he was not a suitable player for Real Madrid," he said via Telegrafi.

Now, at Santiago Bernabeu, they might regret overlooking Pedri, but the 23-year-old is doing just fine with Barca and probably wouldn't change a thing in his so-far career, as he made 221 appearances for the Catalans, won six trophies, and became the youngest Blaugrana player to play 150 La Liga games.

What's not to like about that?
