Otieno takes over from Ezekiel Akwana, who will return to his previous role as assistant coach
FKF Premier League side Sofapaka has announced former KCB FC head coach Zedekiah Otieno as their new head coach. He is set to be unveiled on Sunday during their league match against Bidco United.
Otieno takes over from Ezekiel Akwana, who will return to his previous role as assistant coach. Akwana had served as Francis Haringingo's assistant for a fortnight before being elevated to head coach when the Burundian tactician was fired.
The former Kenyan international is the third coach that Batoto ba Mungu has appointed this season. They began the campaign with Haringingo as the head coach before handing the team to Akwana following six defeats in a row.
Batoto ba Mungu have released a statement confirming the arrival of former Sony Sugar, Posta Rangers, and Harambee Stars head coach.
"We are pleased to inform our fans that, in a bid to boost the squad and the Technical Bench, we have appointed Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno as the Head Coach of our team, and he will be assisted by Coach Ezekiel Akwana. Zico will officially be unveiled on Sunday during our Home Match against Bidco United. More news will be updated in the coming days. Karibu Sana Coach kwa Familia," read the club statement.
Otieno joins Sofapaka at a time when the club is struggling both on and off the pitch. On the field, they are second from the bottom with just 14 points, and off the field, they are facing financial challenges.37884
