Tension in the French team…over tickets for families

The French Football Federation gave a proposition which didn't suit the players

On Monday, France is playing their last friendly game ahead of the World Cup. Didier Deschamps will lead his men for the last time as the national coach on home soil, as he will resign after the competition. It is expected that Northern Ireland will be an easy opponent, but Ivory Coast already managed to stun France in Nantes a couple days ago. The Elephants managed to turn the game around completely and won 2-1. After Monday’s game, France will travel to the USA, where they will play their first group game against Senegal on June 16th in New Yersey. But even before the trip, there is a problem which will cause tension between the players.

The fact that the expenses in the USA are enormous, compared to the previous World Cups, are already known. The ticket prices are among the most written-about issues in the USA and French Football Federation are aware of this, but they still haven’t found a way to deal with it, and how they are risking a conflict with the players. From four tickets at the last World Cup, players would now only receive two free tickets distributed by the Federation. Six other tickets would be reserved for families, but at the players' expense. For some, this is insufficient, especially considering that PSG, for example, offered 10 invitations for each player's family to the Champions League final against Arsenal.

FFF president Philippe Diallo is working hard and is trying to finish the negotiations with the French national team executives before the Northern Ireland game in order to resolve this matter. The matter of bonuses is not a problem, it is believed. The number which the players should get will not be decreased, but the distribution should be different. It would be a system where performance is rewarded. Players could even earn more than in previous years if they achieve the set objectives, namely reaching the semi-finals.
