In less than a week, the 26-year-old midfielder achieved what millions of kids in his homeland dream about when they first start playing football
Last Wednesday, British media reported that Manchester United and Atalanta had reached an agreement over the transfer of midfielder Ederson to Old Trafford.
At that point, many wondered whether the Red Devils were making a mistake by signing a player who had failed to make Carlo Ancelotti's World Cup squad.
United fans, however, could take comfort in the fact that their new signing would certainly be fit for the start of the season.
Nevertheless... One man's loss again turned out to be another man's gain.
This time, cruel fate struck AS Roma defender Wesley Franca, who suffered a serious hamstring injury in a friendly match against Egypt yesterday and was forced to withdraw from the squad, leaving Ancelotti without the only natural right-back on the team.

Carletto had to react immediately, and that's when the door to Brazil's World Cup squad opened for Ederson, who was called up to fill in the gap.
So far, the midfielder has made just three appearances for Brazil and has not received a call-up for over a year.
We'll see whether these magical four days are merely the beginning of a World Cup fairytale.
