Ararat now just hold a point buffer at the summit of the log.
Kenyan international Alwyn Tera clocked 90 minutes for Ararat-Armenia as they slipped up in the title race following a 1-1 stalemate with Alashkert in the Armenian Premier League.
Tera has been a mainstay in the team since making the move to Ararat-Armenia back in July 2021 from Georgian giants Saburtalo where he spent six years.
The first half was a drab display with both clubs struggling to break each other’s set of defences as they went into the interval locked on a barren draw.
Unimpressed with his side’s showing during the game, Ararat-Armenia head coach Dmitry Gunko introduced Yusuf Otubanjo, Solomon Udo and Zhirayr Shaghoyan in place of Wilfried Kwassi Eza, Karen Muradyan and Wbeymar Angulo at the hour mark.
The changes took long to pay dividends but Ararat-Armenia finally broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute through Jonathan Alexander Duarte Duran who notched his third goal this season.
Just when Ararat-Armenia thought they were on course for another victory, up stepped David Khurtsidze to restore parity for Alashkert at the depth and ensure the sides shared the spoils.
Ararat-Armenia continue to lead the standings but their advantage was whittled down to a point.
Tobias Otieno
Kenyan midfielder Tobias Otieno missed the matchday squad as his Tormenta side beat Birmingham Legion 2-0 in the US Open Cup.

Tobias is yet to link up with the team in the US as he is still processing his paperwork but first-half goals from Curtis Thorn and Jake Dengler ensured victory for Tormenta who proceeded to the Round of 16 of the competition.
