The African gem to break London’s 14 year fast?

The Ghana forward might move from West Ham but still stay in London

There a lot of uncertainty at West Ham this off season. The executive board surely expected that Graham Potter would do a better job when he took the reigns during the season, but still, he will be given time to shape the squad in his own liking in order to achieve goals set by the club. Due to terrible season (West Ham finished 14th), they don’t have so much shopping power, unless they sell someone first. There is also uncertainty over their best player Lucas Paqueta due to his trial over betting scam, and long time striker Michail Antonio, after his terrible car crash six months ago.

Jarrod Bowen remains the corner-stone of this team but the African gem might be on the move, and to an unexpected club. As reported by the Telegraph, Mohammed Kudus could be sold to gain money for incoming players, and that’s not a secret, but the club who is aquiring him is a surprise. Tottenham has emerged as the unlikely candidate, especially since two rival London clubs haven’t done a deal in the last 14 years! Apparently, Kudus is high on Thomas Frank’s list and Spurs supremo Daniel Levy is trying to fulfill his wishes. But, the stumbling block could be the player’s release clause, which is set to be around 85 million pounds, an enormous sum which Levy feels could be lowered down. Newcastle already gave up when they heard the figures, but Spurs are likely to take the ‘bait’.

If the deal goes through (the 85 million clause is valid until 10th of July), this could be the first time two London clubs have done a deal since Scott Parker in 2011. Daniel Levy blocked Emmanuel Adebayor from moving in the opposite direction four years later and the two clubs have not done business since. Kudus arrived at West Ham from Ajax for close to 40 million pounds two years ago, and while his maiden season was great (14 goals across all competitions), last year he managed only five goals and a further four assists across his 35 appearances in all competitions.
