Pacheta got elegated to with Valladolid recently but Villarreal don't care

Bidding took place in the previous days with numerous well-known names. Julen Lopetegui was the most renowned one, and the legend of Real Madrid Raul was shyly mentioned. It seemed that the bench of Villarreal would be entrusted with a renowned name, but the Yellow Submarine surprised everyone with the decision to opt for an expert who was relegated from Primera last season, finishing in 18th place with Valladolid. Jose Rojo Martin, better known as Pacheta, is the new coach of Villarreal, and he signed a contract with the 2021 Europa League winner until the end of the current season.

Not enough high-quality football was played at the La Ceramica stadium during August and early September, and Quique Setien paid the price for the bad results, with the first dismissal in the top tier of Spanish football this season. Just three points in four rounds, along with poor performances at the end of the previous season, forced Villarreal's management to reach out with new options for the heated coaching position. The choice fell on Pacheta, for whom this will be the tenth club in the last 14 years. We wouldn't be far wrong if we attribute the epithet of a real football globetrotter to the 55-year-old expert, since he even worked in Thailand's Ratchaburi and Poland's Korona Kielce in one part of his coaching career.

Pacheta has settled down in his homeland in recent years, and in the previous two seasons he managed Valladolid. First, he brought the club with Jose Zorilla Stadium to Primera Division in 2022, but a new step backwards followed this spring. Villarreal were in a hurry to choose a new coach during the international break, so perhaps at first glance they hastily chose one in the form of Pacheta, not wanting to wait for someone with a longer CV.

It is also worth noting that the new Villarreal coach had a solid playing career in Spain. He played five seasons for Espanyol (1994-1999) and Numancia (1999-2004).

Jose Rojo Martin will have the chance to make his debut on the bench of the fifth-placed team in Primera from last season on September 17, when Almeria arrives at Madrigal, which are in even worse form with only one point out of four rounds.
