There can be only one 'team #2' in Bundesliga, and that's Dortmund

In a clash of two sides unsuccessfully trying to jeopardize Bayern Munich's dominance in German football, Dortmund topped Bayer Leverkusen 2-1

With Bayern Munich ruthlessly dominating the Bundesliga and German football in general, the only fight their rivals can engage in is the one for position below the top of the league. All the credit to Red Bull Leipzig, currently second-placed Bundesliga team, the Bavarians' "eternal followers" are Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

Today, they clashed at BayArena and the visitors emerged victorious - 2-1.

The game provided plenty of opportunities, but Niko Kovac's men were better at turning them into goals, and that's what made the difference in the end.

Leverkusen were by no means a worse rival today, but were undoubtedly an unluckier one. Ernest Poku and Jonas Hofmann hit the bar, depriving the home crew of well-deserved goals, while, on the other hand, their opponents managed to find the net.

The key moments happened in the 41st minute when Chelsea loanee at the BVB, Aaron Anselmino, broke the deadlock and the 65th minute when the fantastic Karim Adeyemi doubled the visitors' lead.

Julian Brandt had two massive chances to seal the deal in the final quarter of an hour, but failed, and things became tense for Dortmund when the Cameroonian Christian Kofane reduced the gap seven minutes before the end.

However, luckily for Dortmund, that was everything Kasper Hjulmand's men managed to do, as Borussia triumphed and leapfrogged Lever by two points, taking over the third spot in the league.
