Okay, not more, but still way too many

Bayern have lost their Bavarian clash with Bundesliga strugglers FC Augsburg, they let Borussia Dortmund creep up to them in the table - and now they've got total of seven players in quarantine due to coronavirus infection risk.

Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting and Michael Cuisance have gone into quarantine following consultation with the health authorities. They came into contact with someone in the immediate circle of the Bayern team who tested positive.

Those four Bayern Munich players have joined Joshua Kimmich, who's been in self-isolation since last week.

The club did not say how long the players would be out of action but they will definitely miss Bayern’s Champions League game at Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to reports in Germany, the four players are unvaccinated, likely explaining why they were required to take extra precautions after contact with an infected person.

On Thursday, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said that the unvaccinated players know that the risk of missing games or training sessions is much greater as an unvaccinated person than as a vaccinated person. The club is likely to get more strict with the players who are refusing to take the jab because they are disrupting the team's season.

Midfielder Kimmich is back in quarantine for the second time after again coming in contact with an infected person. He also had to isolate the week before, missing a national team match because of contact with Bayern teammate Niklas Sule, who tested positive.

The 26-year-old Kimmich previously caused a furor in Germany for voicing his reservations about getting vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Young defender Josip Stanisic also tested positive upon his return from international duty with Croatia - increasing the number of players ruled out by Covid regulations to seven.
