Yes, Tottenham lost in the previous round, but having 3 wins out of 4 games is certainly a better situation than last season

In the city derby, a match that was ‘supposed’ to be close, Tottenham managed to overcome West Ham with a barrage of goals in the second half, all further fueled by Tomas Soucek’s terrible foul and red card.

The game’s first major chance came in the 14th minute when Lucas Paqueta of West Ham met a cross in the box and tried to finish on goal. Unfortunately for him, his shot was off target, drifting to the right of the goal.

Tottenham responded four minutes later through Xavi Simons, who unleashed a powerful shot, but a committed West Ham defender blocked the effort. In the 19th minute, Cristian Gabriel Romero thought he had given Tottenham the lead, but the goal was ruled out for a foul.

West Ham went close again in the 22nd minute when Tomas Soucek rose high to meet a cross with a header. His effort, however, lacked sufficient power, allowing goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to make a confident save from close range.

The half ended with another big chance for Tottenham. In the 43rd minute, Mads Hermansen produced a fantastic save to deny Romero’s follow-up shot, keeping the score level going into halftime.

Second half quickly shifted in Tottenham’s favor, as West Ham struggled to recover from early setbacks.

Just three minutes after the restart, in the 48th minute, Xavi Simons delivered a corner, and Pape Matar Sarr found himself unmarked to head the ball precisely under the crossbar, giving Tottenham the LEAD, 0-1. West Ham tried to respond immediately, and in the 49th minute, Jarrod Bowen fired from the edge of the box, but his shot went straight into goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s hands.

West Ham’s woes deepened in the 54th minute when Tomas Soucek committed a reckless challenge and was shown a straight red card, leaving the home side with ten men. Tottenham capitalized quickly. In the 57th minute, Cristian Gabriel Romero sent in a perfectly timed cross, and Lucas Bergvall soared above the defense to head the ball under the crossbar, extending the LEAD to 0-2.

The visitors sealed the result in the 64th minute when Micky van de Ven followed up on a cross into the penalty area, delivering a precise low shot into the left corner, making it 0-3. The goal is HERE!

From there, Tottenham controlled the match comfortably, while West Ham struggled to create meaningful chances with a man down.
