Chelsea's last minute equalizer was overruled due to offside

Leicester won their first FA Cup in history! The Foxes waited their for their fifth final since 1969 and this one was a success. After four defeats, this final was a lucky one – thanks to a Tielemans thunderball and Schmeichel’s brilliant saves in the last 15 minutes, Leicester won their first FA cup among the 20.000 fans at the Wembley.

Chelsea had their chances after Tielemans scored, but Leicester captain made sure that the trophy is in the right place. When Tuchel’s men scored a last minute equalizer, VAR was there to show that Chilwell was just milimeters offside.

So, the trophy goes to a better team, a team which is playing a fantastic season in the Premier League, is on the verge of securing the Champions League place, and has a good manager and a great selected squad. This is the first final which Tuchel lost with Chelsea, and it will sure be many more finals for the German (Champions League is coming up in 14 days), but his players will have to play better and be more precise in front of the goal.

Fans were finally permitted at Wembley and they enjoyed it, even if the game was a boring one, until Tielemans scored a magnificent volley. Before the goal, there was not much to be seen. It was a nervous and cautious first half from both sides, resulting in a dull 45 minutes with no shots on target for both teams, but rather 7 blocked shots. Second half was a bit better, but still not worthy of a FA Cup final. But then came Tielemans and scored a goal like he usually does: a powerful one, from the full sprint, right in the top angle. Just brilliant.

Chelsea needed to attack after that, they just couldn’t wait for counter attacks anymore. And they did, but the Foxes captain saved the day. First it was a fingertip save from the Dane in the 78th minute as he had to claw Chilwell's goal-bound header off the goal line. If that was a good one, the next one was even better. Three minutes before the end, a cross from the right fell for Mount on the edge of the area, and he fired it for the far corner, but Schmeichel made a stunning save at full stretch.

Finally, Chelsea found the net in the 89th minute, but VAR showed it was offside. It was finally the end and a long wait for the FA Cup trophy was over for Leicester.
