Timbe was nominated for the second time for the award

Kenyan International Ayub Timbe has been beaten to the award of the Club's best player for the month of May by former Arsenal and Barcelona defender Thomas Vermalean.

The Belgian international was confirmed the winner by the club on their social media pages though the club did not reveal the margin by which he won.

This was the second time that the 20-year old has been nominated for the award, having been on the list of nominees in April as well but failed to win.

For the month of May, he managed to score an injury-time equalizer in their 1-1 draw against Cerezo Osaka, a goal that had been assisted by the Harambee Stars winger.

Apart from setting up Vernalean's goal, Timbe had an impressive run in May, breaking his 21-month goal drought in style by bagging a brace against Tokushima Vortis in the Japanese Levain Cup.

Also in contention for the same award was Hotari Yamaguchi and veteran Brazilian Douglas who netted in the 1-all draw against Sagan Tosu.

Timbe, once on loan with Reading FC, was elated with the nomination earlier and took to Facebook page to rally his fans to vote for him.

“Happy to be in the nominees for player of the month.. go to my Instagram to vote. I'll have the link in my bio,” the winger wrote.
