Alila hopes the experience he gained during his term will work to his advantage as he seeks to be elected FKF President

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nyanza executive member Tom Alila is one of the most experienced football administrators gunning for the FKF Presidential seat.

Elected first in 2011, Alila hopes the experience he gained during his term will work to his advantage as he seeks to be elected FKF president.

Alila particularly cites the role he played in ensuring that the county got two artificial turf stadia as legacy projects for the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa.

One of the artificial turfs was laid at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu part of the then Nyanza Province where he was a National Executive Committee (NEC) member.

With that background, Alila noted that he will seek local and international partnerships to develop the country’s football infrastructures currently in shambles.

“My administration will ensure every county has access to quality pitches and training centres.

We will collaborate with the Council of Governors to align infrastructure projects with local needs, ensuring that facilities are built and maintained in underserved areas.

Further, through partnerships with NGOs and local governments, we will develop and maintain these facilities for continuous player development and community engagement,” he said in his 14-page manifesto.

On talent development, Alila says they will identify schools and community centres to serve as hubs for talent development.

This, he says will be equipped with the resources to nurture players from a young age.

To end the perennial problem of sponsorships, Alila averred that his administration will make their assets attractive in order to secure long-term sponsorships.

“We will adopt a professional approach to attract long-term sponsors and partners. Also securing broadcast sponsorships will be a top priority, ensuring fans across Kenya have access to top-flight matches,” he explained.

He says the first priority for his administration will be to work with corporate partners to establish a title sponsor for the league, ensuring financial stability for clubs and elevating the visibility of Kenyan football.

He says the federation will also actively develop its brand through the sale of merchandise, media rights and promotional events creating additional revenue for clubs.
