Too little, too late: Vini delays Barca's celebration, but Madrid's title ship has already sailed

The Brazilian's second-half brace brushed aside Espanyol (2-0). The upcoming El Clasico (May 10) could decide the La Liga title race for the first time in 94 years
It's hard to say whether Real Madrid have woken up after a series of poor results, which, among other things, contributed to the current La Liga standings. In other circumstances, a road victory against Espanyol would have been a crucial triumph in a title race. Now, it's only a delay of Barcelona's celebration.
Los Blancos beat the Catalan side 2-0 thanks to Vinicius Jr’s second-half brace, and again did not shine. Alvaro Arbeloa's men threw the entire first period out the window, and only thanks to the Brazilian's two moments of inspiration in the 55th and 66th minutes, they brushed aside the rivals and avoided handing the trophy to Barca.
If Barça avoids a loss next weekend, we'll see a title celebration during a Clásico for just the second time in La Liga's history, with the first instance happening in 1932. Real Madrid last witnessed a rival celebrating a league title at their home in 1977. #fypシ゚viralシ pic.twitter.com/S0PgQuP2ri

However, that means the upcoming El Clasico (May 10) could be the decisive game in the title race for the second time in history and first since 1932, further indicating that Los Blancos could regret beating Espanyol.
Why? Well, is there anything worse than allowing the fiercest rival to win the trophy in a derby against yourself? Hardly.
Both teams' motives will be high. The Catalans will, of course, want to secure the title in the sweetest possible way, against Los Blancos, while the crew from Santiago Bernabeu will undoubtedly do anything possible to prevent Hansi Flick's men's celebration.
A blockbuster El Clasico is upon us, that's for sure.
