In January, Shabana players issued an ultimatum to the club, demanding that all outstanding salary arrears be settled or they boycott training.
The playing unit also raised concerns over irregular payments, claiming it had been a long time since they last received full monthly salary.
At the time, the squad was owed two months’ wages.
Speaking on Egesa FM, Kerama acknowledged the delays and noted that, like any other club in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), Shabana faces significant financial challenges.
He explained that their sponsor provides the club with Kshs 25 million per season, amount he said is insufficient to run all three teams under the Shabana umbrella: the senior team, Shabana Starlets and Shabana Youth.
“Each month, our sponsor releases less than Kshs 2 million for the salaries of players and the technical bench, yet the club’s monthly budget exceeds Kshs 3.5 million. This means the top management must seek additional revenue from sources such as gate collections and the sale of club jerseys,” he said.
The club adminstrtor also urged fans to remain calm regarding the number of local players compared to international signings.
Tore Bobe strengthened their squad during the mid-season transfer window, which closed on Sunday evening.
The Kisii-based side confirmed the signing of Senegalese winger Pape Doudou Diallo from Azam SC.
Diallo, who joined Azam six months ago, featured in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup and arrives with an impressive record, having finished as the top scorer with 11 goals during the 2024/25 Senegalese Ligue 1 season while playing for ASC Linguere de Saint-Louis.
Another foreign recruit is Congolese striker Mambote Batshi Assis, who joined from AF Saint Christian.
Batshi previously turned out for AC Kuya Sport and Renaissance du Congo.
Head coach Peter Okidi has also brought in Jasper Omwando, the 82 Ultimate Cup Most Valuable Player, attacker Mohammed Abdalla from FC Talanta and defensive midfielder John Owira from Bidco United.
Kerama clarified that the club’s recruitment of players from Congo and Senegal marks an important step in positioning Shabana as an international club that welcomes talent from across the globe.
He further addressed the progress of players who have risen through the ranks since the club’s days in the National Super League (NSL), noting that their salaries have improved significantly following Shabana’s return to the top tier.
