Tottenham looking for a reinforcements from Arabia - Postecoglou eager to reunite with Jota

It looks like playing football in the Middle East is not as dreamy as it seems. Yes, the salary is on point, the competition is more uncertain than it was, but there are footballers who don't quite manage in Saudi Arabia, which is why they could return to Europe much earlier. Among them is the Portuguese Jota, who signed for Al-Ittihad with big fanfare, but he hardly plays there.

Since he arrived in Jeddah, he has not started a single match. He would mostly come from the bench, because coach Nuno Espirito Santo prefers natives Hamdallah (Morocco) and Romarinho (Brazil). That's how it happened that Jota has collected only 133 minutes so far, noting that he didn't start a single match, and that the only time he had decent minutes was replacing the injured newcomer Karim Benzema towards the end of the visit to Al-Wehda. Then he scored his first goal in the Saudi Pro League.

Quite underwhelming for the former member of Celtic, brought in for 30,000,000 euros, which is the biggest sale in the history of the Scottish giants. Jota himself received a contract based on which he should earn 12,000,000 euros per season, and already now, after only a few months in the Arab world, he is so disappointed that, it seems, he realizes that it's not all about money, even though he was one of the first to cross the route from Europe to Saudi Arabia in the recent transfer window.

He could already take the same route in January and return to Europe. And back on the territory of Great Britain, except that he would not play in Scotland, but in England. Angelos Postecoglou, Tottenham's chief of staff, who coached him at Celtic and under whose command Jota was extremely productive, is willing to give him a helping hand. In two seasons with the Bhoys, while Postecoglu was on the bench, the Portuguese scored 28 goals and set up another 26.

Jota would come to Tottenham as an ideal solution for the rest of the season if you consider that Ivan Perišić is seriously injured and will probably not return to the field until the end of the campaign. On top of that, there are reports that Al-Ittihad may even release him without compensation. It's a bit strange when you know that he paid 30,000,000 euros for him, but everything is possible with the Arabs, even getting rid of a player from whom they expected a lot.

Everton are lurking from the background, just in case the Jota-Tottenham deal backfires. However, that will hardly happen - after all, the coach under whose leadership he played the best football is calling for a reunion...
