According to Handa, the passing of the constitution will pave way for talks, contrary to the demands of the world football governing body. FIFA want the FKF office reinstated.

FKF Transition Committee head of referees Ceasar Handa believes that Kenya will be back in FIFA's good books in a month or two with the committee focused on ratifying their draft constitution contrary to the demands of the world football governing body.

Kenya is currently suspended and the reason for the decision taken by FIFA in February was the disbandment of FKF and the appointment of a Caretaker Committee which was later renamed Transition Committee by the government. The move has seen Kenya miss international competitions. Among the demands by FIFA for the suspension to be lifted is the reinstatement of the former office.

The mandate of the committee was extended by a further two months on Monday, something that has elicited mixed reactions from stakeholders across the country. The government-appointed committee has been in charge of football since November 2021.

Despite FIFA's insistence that they do not recognize the government-installed body, Handa insists that the country's suspension will soon be lifted after they pass the draft constitution.

"We expect that in a month or two, we should be able to get FIFA back on the table with a proper constitution because once it is ratified it will be shared with FIFA and we believe that in our discussions that we've had that they will look at it. The questions that we've had, " he said during an interview on the The Funny, Real and Raw Football show hosted by seasoned journalist Chiko Lawi.

The committee had convened a meeting in July aimed at passing their draft constitution but it got canceled at the last minute and Handa admits that they are facing resistance in their bid to pass a new constitution.

"The ratification will happen, pretty soon it will happen. We must also understand that we are operating in an environment where forces pulling in different directions. Those who feel that this draft constitution will run them out of office are resisting and they are doing everything they can to try and persuade everybody who cares to listen that this is not the right way, "he added.

"But what we are trying to say is that us as a transition committee, we don't want to run the football, we are creating a good foundation for the running of sports and football in this country and that must be done to have good football in this country,".
