Djed Spence got an unexpected call for the England's next two games
FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers are upon us. This week there will be football in Top 5 European league but after that it’s international break. And England manager Thomas Tuchel announced his squad for the upcoming games with Andorra and Serbia. As always, there are some surprises. England’s U21 team triumphed at the tournament in Slovakia, defeating Germany in the final. From that squad, two players have now received a call-up from Thomas Tuchel to be among the contenders for the continuation of the World Cup qualifiers. Those players are Newcastle’s right-back Tino Livramento, who had already been part of the senior team before, and Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, whose rise impressed Tuchel and convinced him to give the youngster his first senior opportunity. In addition to Anderson, Tottenham’s left-back Djed Spence has also received his maiden call-up.

Among the key news is that Real Madrid’s new right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has been left out compared to the previous squad, while Marcus Rashford has been brought back into the national team after his move to Barcelona. From the 3-1 humbling at the hands of Senegal, five players have been dropped while three are injured. Kyle Walker, Trevor Chalobah, Conor Gallagher, Curtis Jones and Ivan Toney miss out. Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer are all injured.
“He had a very good end to the season with Tottenham and a very impressive start to the season. He was impressively good against Paris in the European Super Cup final. He came up against a lot of quality on his side, against a lot of speed and handled it impressively well and kept on going with Tottenham in the Premier League starts. He can play both sides, he plays very intense, he’s in shape and he deserved to be called up” said Tuchel when asked why he called Spence.
