Tusker coach reveals league match key in Mozzart Bet Cup final preps

Before then, the 12-time FKF Premier League champions have two top-flight matches to play before the end of what has been a disappointing league season.

Speaking to the club’s media ahead of their league clash against Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday, 27 May, Mette revealed why the match is integral to their cup final preparations.

“The last two league games will be important for us to win and finish in the best possible position, but also to prepare for the cup final, where we will be playing a team that will be playing in a do-or-die form,” said Mette.

“This is also the mindset that Ulinzi will be having, and so it is important for us to play and win against them because if we secure a win against a team preparing to survive, we will have the right mentality heading into the final,” he added.

The French tactician also went ahead to expound on the reasons behind Tusker’s struggles, which have resulted in inconsistent performances since his arrival on Friday, 20 February.

“We have been very good in a lot of aspects both offensively and defensively, but the opponents have been good in one key area, which is playing directly with an intention to win.

In terms of technical ability and display, we have been better but still ended up losing the game, and that is football,” stated Mette.

Heading into the Ulinzi clash, Tusker are ninth on the league table with 44 points while Ulinzi are 15th with 35 points, a place and point above the relegation zone.
